ACCRA – The Government of Ghana has directed Telecommunication operators in the country to stop the expiry of voice and data bundles purchased by consumers.
Currently, it’s only AirtelTigo that is the only network operator in Ghana which offers data bundles that does not expire and with the latest instructions from Government, consumers will be hoping for MTN and Vodafone Ghana to also stop expiring data and voice bundles.
According to the Ministry of Communications in a letter dated October 9, 2019, all unused data and voice bundles purchased by subscribers that has not been used must not expire and must be rolled over with the next recharge.
The letter signed by the minister in charge of the sector, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful also said telcos in Ghana should stop the instant deduction of the Communications Service Tax (CST).
The letter which was written to the National Communications Authority and copied to CEOs of MTN and Vodafone as well as the two Deputy Ministers of Communication.
Ghanaians now await a positive reply from the NCA and telcos regarding this latest directive from Government and if this is adhered to, then consumers will now enjoy unlimited data and voice bundles.
