The government of Kenya announced a suspension of flights from coronavirus-stricken Northern Italy two days ago (4th March 2020) however that is not the case as airlines from Northern Italy continue flying into tourist coastal city of Mombasa.
According to data from flight tracking website/app, flightradar24, a Neos Air from nothern Italy enroute to Mombasa via Zanzibar.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, National Emergency Response Committee on Coronavirus Chairman and Health CS Mutahi Kagwe had said the decision to suspend flights from Northern Italy took effect immediately was made following Consultations with the Italian Embassy.
This is a scene reminiscent to the drama surrounding the suspension of China Southern Airlines flights into Kenya on February 10th 2020, KQ employee rattled the lies by recording a video shwoing a China Southern Ailrine landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on 26th February 2020 to which both Kenya’s Ministry of Health and Chinese Embassy in Nairobi lied to the public that the airline had resumed service to Nairobi that day.
Our investigations showed that the airline never suspended flights to Nairobi.
It now seems like the decision to suspend Ailines from Northern Italy wasn’t adhered to as revealed in the screenshots below.
Medical experts say the ban should be on the whole of Italy since a person can still travel by road from Northern Italy where coronavirus has ravaged to the South or any other European City and still fly to Kenya.
