The weird-looking pick-up launched by Tesla Motors, christened Cybertruck, will go into production in 2022.
It is electric.
Already over 200k orders have been made according to Tesla founder Elon Musk.
The truck which seeks to compete other US heavyweights of thr industry such GM’s Ford F-150, can accelerate to 60 miles per hour in just 2.6 seconds and can tow loads of up to 6,400 kilograms.
Reason why it is weird looking
In a series of Twitter posts, Elon Musk explained why the steel contraption looks the way it does.
He wrote
Reason Cybertruck is so planar is that you can’t stamp ultra-hard 30X steel, because it breaks the stamping press.
Even bending it requires a deep score on inside of bend, which is how the prototype was made.
