Kenya’s leading alcoholic beverages manufacturer, EABL foundation has today announced that it has put aside Sh50m to fund the production of 135,000 litres of ethanol that will help in the manufacture of free hand sanitizers that will help the country continue to fight the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The move comes after the country recorded a high shortage of hand sanitizers after the first few days that saw unscrupulous dealers hoarding the hand sanitizers while retailers inflated the cost exponentially.
The Foundation has contracted two Nairobi-based industries. “We have engaged certified sanitizer producers to produce for us hand sanitizers for distribution to vulnerable groups and those at risk of exposure.” EABL Foundation Trustee Eric Kiniti said.
“We shall be engaging our sales personnel on the ground as well as distributors to ensure the sanitizers get to the most vulnerable groups, mainly those who do not have access to water and good sanitation,” he added.
