Governments all over the world ban the export of Hydroxychloroquine.
Hydroxychloroquine, this is the medicine every person is talking about, pharmarcies all over the world are going out of stock as people line up for the unproven “cure” for the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The controversial anti-malaria drug which also doubles up as treatment for lupus is currently being trialed as a posible cure for the novel covid-19, however, this hasn’t stopped civilians from buying the drug as survival instincts kick in.
Reception of the drug worldwide.
India, Hungary and the United Kingdom have banned export of the drug to save supply for themselves Jordan and France have authorized the use of hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19 Bahrain claims success with drug on coronavirus patients US FDA has approved for off-label use of the drug
The drug came into the public eye this week due in part to tweets from President Trump and in part because of a small French study of 42 patients that seemed to show that hydroxychloroquine, particularly when combined with the antibiotic azithromycin, helped decrease patients’ levels of coronavirus.
however, a second study from Shanghai University in China done on some 30 Covid-19 patients showed that whether patients received hydroxychloroquine or not, their body temperature returned to normal onev day after hospitalization, and the time it took for levels of the virus to become undetectable was comparable.
Although the drug has shown promise in some small, early trials its benefits remain unproven, and the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) has recommended against its use to treat the disease “based on the lack of clinically convincing outcomes and the fragility of the supply chain.”
