There was public uproar last week when news report indicated that China Southern Airline had been detained at the Jomo Kenyatta International Aiport (JKIA) for a couple of hours to allow screening of pasengers in order to avert the spread of deadly coronavirus.
Following these reports, the airline has decided to suspend its flights to Kenya. The suspension of the airline’s flights (Nairobi-Changsha, and Nairobi-Guangzou), which initially operated four weekly direct flights since June last year, will take effect from 10th February 2020.

The national carrier Kenya Airways (KQ) had at the end of January 2020 ago suspended flights to Guangzhou China.
“Passengers from Wuhan and surrounding districts will ONLY be accepted on our flights after clearance by the Guangzhou Airport health authorities. In addition, our crew have been trained and sensitized on how to handle the situation”, the KQ statement stated in part.
Kenyans were wondering why Southern China Airways was still making flights to Kenya.
