The Co-operative Bank of Kenya, as a principal sponsor, leveraged the platform to engage directly with SACCO leaders, showcasing its initiatives in cooperative banking and exploring strategies to strengthen a more connected and resilient financial ecosystem.

During the opening session, Hon. Wycliffe Oparanya, EGH, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, visited the Co-op Bank stand.

He was accompanied by Mr. Macloud Malonza, MBS, HSC, Vice Chairman of Co-operative Bank, and Mr. David Mategwa, OGW, HSC, Chairman of KUSCCO and the National Police SACCO.

The visit underscored the bank’s active role in championing cooperative development and its commitment to supporting policy alignment and sector growth through strategic engagement with SACCO leadership.

The convention provides a platform for knowledge exchange, dialogue, and networking, addressing operational challenges, governance issues, and innovation strategies across Kenya’s SACCO institutions.

Co-op Bank’s Cooperatives Banking team engaged in targeted discussions with SACCO leaders to identify opportunities for financial inclusion, digital transformation, and operational efficiency, highlighting products and services designed to enhance member access and institutional resilience.

By participating in speaking sessions and hosting interactive exhibits, the bank demonstrated its capacity to integrate fintech solutions, advisory services, and cooperative-focused financing models in ways that respond to sector-specific needs.

Through sponsorship and active involvement, the bank reinforced its position as a facilitator of sustainable growth within the cooperative sector, aligning commercial objectives with social impact and sector-wide development priorities.

The event also provided a forum to explore partnerships, mentorship opportunities, and collaborative initiatives that aim to strengthen SACCO governance, drive adoption of innovative financial practices, and support the broader cooperative movement across Kenya.

Co-op Bank’s participation exemplifies its strategic focus on bridging financial technology, institutional capacity building, and sector engagement to shape a future-ready SACCO ecosystem capable of responding to evolving market demands.

As the convention progresses, highlights from the bank’s exhibition and speaking engagements are expected to inform both policy discussion and practical interventions within the SACCO landscape, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to fostering sustainable, inclusive, and connected cooperative financial institutions across the country.
