Over the past eight years, Centum Re has dedicated Sh100 million to its scholarship program, providing education to the less privileged in the coastal region.
Through its subsidiary, Vipingo Development Limited, the company currently supports 400 students, with an annual investment of over Sh15 million.
Kenneth Mbae, CEO of Centum Real Estate Company, announced the addition of a new group of 50 students from the Vipingo area in Kilifi County to the program this year.
The scholarship program has enhanced KCPE performance in primary schools in the Vipingo area.
“This year, we awarded scholarships to 50 students from 21 primary schools after conducting a rigorous selection process. The scholars are set to join National and County schools starting from January 15, 2024,” stated Mbae.
The Vipingo Development scholarship is part of a larger CSR initiative. It includes building classrooms and libraries at four primary schools: Makonde, Timboni, Mkwajuni, and Kadzinuni Primary School.
Vipingo Development sponsors a vocational technical training program. It equips youth from the community with technical skills.
Over 150 youth have received training and graduated. Some have found employment within the development.
