On November 5, 2026 Majid Al Futtaim introduced its SHARE rewards programme at every Carrefour outlet in Kenya, covering 35 stores, the majority of which are in Nairobi.
The new scheme will move roughly 1.4 million existing MyClub members to SHARE after they accept updated terms and set their marketing preferences inside the Carrefour app.
Points are earned at a base rate of 0.25 per cent on eligible purchases, with launch incentives that include a welcome bonus of up to 4,500 points, double points on “SHARE Mondays” and birthday rewards that credit 20 per cent of spend in points, a rate 80 times the base earn.
New shoppers must download the Carrefour app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and register for a SHARE account, while current members are migrated automatically through the app.
Darren Taylor, Senior Vice President of SHARE Rewards and Customer Solutions at Majid Al Futtaim, said the programme is designed to deepen Carrefour’s relationship with Kenyan shoppers by offering promotions similar to those used in the UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
Ahmed Galal Ismail, Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Holding, noted that Kenya becomes the fifth SHARE market after the four Middle Eastern countries and added that the programme builds on a decade of customer trust in Carrefour.
The launch does not disclose the monetary value of a SHARE point and the programme is integrated into the existing Carrefour app rather than requiring a separate loyalty application.
Industry background notes that retail loyalty schemes record purchase data and allow points to be exchanged for discounts or goods, and a Kenyan study has linked such programmes to higher supermarket market share, sales and revenue.
By comparison, Naivas awards one point per KSh100 spent and redeems each point at KSh1, equating to a 1 per cent return, while Quickmart’s liability for unredeemed points rose to KSh139 million by December 2025.
Safaricom’s Bonga Points grant one point per KSh10 spent and value each point at 20 cents, redeemable through M-PESA merchants.
Carrefour’s network grew from 20 stores in 2023 to 35 in 2026, coinciding with Naivas reaching 110 stores as reported by Knight Frank in 2024.
