A section of Waiyaki way will not be accessible to road users for the next 7 months to give room to the ongoing construction of the Nairobi expressway.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) says traffic movement will be interfered with from Goodman Tower to Sanlam Tower a section of 500 metres.
The statement by KeNHA Director General Peter Mundinia states that the section will be closed from 26th September 2020 to 1st April 2021.
Normal traffic flow on Mombasa road and Uhuru Highway will also be altered with during the construction, he warns. “Motorists are further requested to follow directions as shall be indicated on the road signage provided, and/or by traffic marshals on site,” said KeNHA Director General Eng. Peter Mundinia.
Mundinia says all vehicles from the City center to James Gichuru will turn left into the service road before St Mark’s footbridge and rejoin Waiyaki way after Mvuli road.
Pedestrians are also advised to use the designated pedestrian crossing in front of Park Inn Hotel.
“We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused as we endeavor to improve the existing infrastructure along this critical section of the Mombasa – Nairobi Highway (A8 Road).”
The Nairobi Expressway, is a proposed four-lane toll highway in Kenya. The highway will link Nairobi, the capital and largest city of Kenya to JKIA, the largest airport of the country.
