The ministry of health estimates that 2.6 million children are in danger of contracting polio.
This is according to the latest mapping that was conducted in 11 counties that are said to be at the highest risk of polio cases.
The 11 counties that have been mapped to undergo the second round of the immunization exercise are Turkana, Wajir, Mandera, Lamu, Tana, River, Garisa, Marsabit, Isiolo, Nairobi, Kilifi and Mombasa
According to Ahmed Arule, the director Core Group Polio Project the health promotion officers from the participating 11 counties have been sensitized.
“This second round we will be targeting children under the age of 159 months and the exercise will run from 29th Nov to 4th Dec 2019”
Currently the National OPV3 stands at 77%.
